Welcome to the home page of Todd Priebe for Sheriff. I hope to demonstrate through this website why I should be the next Sheriff for Sheboygan County.
Inside the website, Todd Priebe for Sheriff, you will discover just how different I am from the other candidates, Michael Helmke and Matt Elliott.
It begins with a vision. A vision that I’m sure every man and woman living, working and playing in Sheboygan County would love to realize. I see it…I hope you will too.
This vision is only made possible by the implementation of a philosophy called Community Policing. It’s not a program, it’s not the flavor of the month, it’s a way of doing business.
I also have goals. Not just goals that improve radio communications, but also maintaining or improving quality of life in our neighborhoods and communities. Equally important is the goal of building future leaders. The type of leaders that will understand the importance of each individual member of the Sheriff’s office, and the relationship with our citizenry.
Roughly 60% of law enforcement burnout is caused by administrative related issues. I find it pitiful that many officers just can’t wait to retire. The leadership model that I will bring to the Sheriff’s Department will reinstate the very reason why almost every law enforcement applicant wants to become a police officer or sheriff’s deputy: to help the community.
The Sheriff’s Department doesn’t need a politician or someone to shake things up. It needs a leader, and that is what the Sheriff should be. Politicians may create legislation, but leaders influence human behavior to accomplish organizational goals.
Budget issues will not be going away any time soon, if ever. I fully support efforts that are currently in the works with “Community Corrections”. The Sheriff’s Department is exploring the Rock County model, which frees up bed space and the ability to house state inmates.
Being a proactive law enforcement agency as opposed to a reactive agency is the beginning of addressing budget issues. Traditional policing agencies are reactive to the needs of the public, thus the Sheriff’s Department will always need more officers. By changing the way the Sheriff’s Department does business, a proactive approach levels off the need for officers.
